The Hawaiians in earlier times named each of the thirty nights of a lunar month. The first night was called hilo, to twist, because the moon was like a twisted thread. The second was hoaka, a cresent.
The third was ku-kahi, the day of a very low tide. The subsequent days described rough seas, light after moonset or days suitable for fishing with a torch. On the eleventh night, huna, the sharp points of the cresent were lost. On the twelfthe, mohalu, the moon began to round. This was a favoured night for planting flowers; it was believed they would be round too. The thirteenth night was hua, the egg; the fourteenth, akua, the night of the perfectly rounded moon. On the sixteenth night, mahea-lani, the moon began to wane. More named days of rough seas followed until the twenty-ninth night. mauli, meaning that the last of the moon was visible. Muku, the thirtieth night, literally meant 'cut off'as the moon had disappeared...

Stellen wir uns mal vor, wir sind mit einer vollen Blasen in einen Autounfall verwickelt. Da kann es doch tatsächlich passieren, dass die Blase platzt. Grundsätzlich reisst eine gefüllte Blase leichter als eine leere. Das heisst nun freilich nicht, dass dir die Blase platzt, wenn du deinen "Bisi" verhalten musst, weil der Papa, Mann oder Bruder grad keinen Boxenstop einlegen will.

Unser Körper verfügt über einen Reflex, der verhindert, dass die Blase überdehnt wird, man nennt ihn den Miktionsreflex. In unsere Blasenwand gibt es anscheinend Dehnungsrezeptoren, die uns mitteilen, wann es an der Zeit ist, die Blase zu leeren. Wie wir alle wissen, ist das Gefühl nicht übermässig angenehm, wenn man zu lange gewartet hat. Diese sensorischen Neuronen können Kontraktionen auslösen, die so stark sind, dass sie sogar die Muskelspannung aushebeln, die die Blase geschlossen hält, und damit den gesamten Urin auf einmal freisetzen...
